Who we are
AfricanDate Reviews is an independent consumer review site for international online dating platforms. We collect experiences from people who actually signed up and paid, we publish those experiences without editing them, and we rate each platform on what its members report rather than on what its marketing claims.
We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any dating company we review.
Why this site exists
International dating platforms occupy an unusual corner of the internet. A person joins because they are lonely, hopeful, or looking for a serious relationship abroad. They are asked to buy credits before they can send a message. They often cannot tell whether the profile replying to them belongs to a real person, a paid chat operator, or a bot. By the time they work it out, several hundred dollars have gone.
Most of what a person finds when they search for one of these platforms is written by someone who earns a commission on the sign-up. Affiliate pages dressed up as reviews rank well, read plausibly, and almost never award a low score. Somebody has to publish the other half of the picture.
That is our job. Every score on this site comes from members. Where a platform performs badly, we say so plainly, and we leave the review up.
What we do
- Collect member reviews. Registered users write about platforms they have used. We moderate for abuse, spam and personal data, never for tone or for being negative.
- Rate platforms transparently. Each site’s score is the average of its member reviews. Nothing is weighted by hand and nothing is adjusted after the fact. Our full method is set out in How we review.
- Publish investigations. Our blog covers recurring scam patterns, stolen profile photography, credit and refund practices, and the safety questions people are too embarrassed to ask.
- Give platforms a right of reply. Any company we cover can respond to a review or correct a factual error. Details are on the How we review page.
What we do not do
- We do not sell ratings, rankings, or placement in any list.
- We do not remove negative reviews in exchange for payment, advertising, or partnership.
- We do not write reviews ourselves and present them as member experiences.
- We do not accept content from a dating platform’s marketing team and publish it as editorial.
If anyone offers you a paid placement on this site, it did not come from us.
How we pay for this
Running a review site costs money — hosting, moderation, and the time it takes to check things properly. We fund it through display advertising and clearly labelled affiliate links, and we are upfront about both in our Affiliate Disclosure.
The important part is the boundary: commercial relationships have no influence on scores. Ratings are calculated from member reviews by formula. Nobody on the commercial side can change a score, suppress a review, or move a platform up a list. A company can advertise with us and still carry a one-star rating, and several do.
Accuracy and corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct the page and note what changed at the bottom of it rather than quietly editing and moving on.
If you have found a factual error — a price that has changed, a feature described incorrectly, a company that has since been sold or shut down — write to us and we will check it against the source. Corrections do not require a legal letter. They require evidence.
